The handmade making of a jean step by step
At Bustins Jeans , as a slow fashion brand, we make our denim clothing by hand in our workshop. Therefore, in today's post, we wanted to explain in images the steps to make jeans in this way.
Pattern making and cutting
The first step to making a pair of jeans is to design the pattern that we will follow for the cut.
We choose the fabric with which to make the garment and prepare the pattern to cut it according to the design. The fabric is cut with a radial blade machine which guarantees a sharper finish than scissors.
Sew the piece
Once the different parts of the garment have been cut, it is about “assembling” them and sewing them.
Each part of the pants is overstitched, that is, they are stitched so that they do not fray.
Once this is done, the overstitched parts begin to be joined together with the help of a sewing machine.
The next step, with the parts already joined, is the stitching, which is decorative elements.
The trouser zipper is sewn and assembled, and double stitching is done with different machines.
The pockets are assembled and overstitched. Then, to close them, we use a machine called an overlock .
Pieces of the pants continue to be joined together, including the legs and the back.
We place the Bustins Jeans and pants size labels.
We make the buttonholes, place the buttons and rivets (the decorative metal parts of the pants).
Later, we placed the waist loops (which were previously sewn).
We sew the Bustins leather label.
The bottoms of the pants are checked.
The result of this process is “raw” fabric jeans. Therefore, it must be washed and ironed so that it acquires the final color and texture.
